Ear Wax Removal in the Comfort of your own Home

Mobile Ear Syringing Services, Yeovil, Somerset

Hello, I'm Jo, an experienced practice nurse offering ear syringing in the comfort of your own home. A lot of GP surgeries have stopped offering this service and for those people whose ears get blocked with wax, it can be a debilitating problem but the good news is I offer a mobile treatment service to provide relief from your pain and discomfort.

Patients with Hearing Aids

If you wear hearing aids and attend your audiology appointment with blocked ears, they will ask you to get them cleared before they can assess you properly. This can mean waiting a long time for another appointment. To prevent this, I can offer you a visit to check your ears are clear before you attend your appointment. If they do need syringing, I could do them at the same visit and you would be ready for your appointment. Please give me a call to discuss this or any other issues relating to your blocked ears 🦻

Prices & Payment

I charge £50 for visits within a 10 mile radius of Yeovil. For visits that are over 10 miles, I charge £60. My maximum travel distance is approximately 20 miles. This will be discussed when we book your appointment. If you would like your ears checked, or if I find that your ears do not need syringing, I charge £20 for the visit. Again this will be discussed when we book your appointment. Charges are payable by cash, cheque or BACS at the time of the appointment.

Causes of Ear Pain and Problems
What is ear wax and why do our ears block?

Ear wax is a natural substance that helps to protect the ear by trapping dirt and dust and moisturising the skin of the ear canal. When there is an excess of ear wax or it becomes compacted, ears can become blocked. When this happens, you may experience reduced hearing, pain, itchiness, dizziness and/or ringing in the ears.

Blocked ears can happen to anyone at any age. Some common causes are small ear canals, wearing hearing aids, ear plugs or headphones or using cotton buds to clean ears (NEVER EVER DO THIS!!! Cotton buds push the wax into a plug and make the blockage worse). Hearing aid users often experience blocked ears as the wax can’t escape past the hearing aid and so it gets stuck.

Did you know wearing earplugs, earphones or hearing aids can cause wax build up? The wax that is produced naturally is compacted and a plug is formed, blocking the ear. This can cause hearing loss, pain and sometimes tinnitus (ringing in the ear). If you think your ears are blocked, don’t hesitate to contact me for advice.

Treatment for Blocked Ears and Ear Pain
Ear syringing by a trained professional is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a safe and effective method of ear wax removal.

Syringing is suitable for any age but please call to discuss if the patient is under 10 years of age.
